J.J. Cale. Studio Albums

Ο J.J. Cale (John Weldon Cale), αμερικανός τραγουδιστής, μουσικός και συνθέτης, ήταν ένας από τους σπουδαιότερους κιθαρίστες στην ιστορία της ροκ μουσικής, κατά δήλωση του τεράστιου Eric Clapton και ένας από τους δημιουργούς και κύριους εκπρόσωπους του Tulsa sound.

Ο γεννημένος το 1938 στην Οκλαχόμα, J.J. Cale, μετακομίζει το 1964 στο Λος Άντζελες, όπου εργάζεται σαν μηχανικός ήχου σε studio και παράλληλα σαν μουσικός σε club.

Η πρώτη του, έστω και μικρή επιτυχία, έρχεται με το τραγούδι "Lazy Me" που ερμηνεύει ο Mel McDaniel, ενώ το 1965 πραγματοποιεί την πρώτη του εμφάνιση-συναυλία στο ιστορικό Whisky a Go Go.

Ο συνιδιοκτήτης του club, Elmer Valentine τον βαφτίζει J.J. Cale για να αποφεύγεται το μπέρδεμα με τον συνώνυμό του John Cale των Velvet Underground.

Το 1966 ηχογραφεί ένα demo single στην Liberty Records με τα τραγούδια "After Midnight" και "Slow Motion" στην πίσω πλευρά. Το τραγούδι "After Midnight" λίγο αργότερα το 1970, γίνεται πολύ μεγάλη επιτυχία από τον Eric Clapton

Το πρώτο άλμπουμ του J.J. Cale κυκλοφορεί στις 25 Οκτωβρίου του 1971 με τίτλο "Naturally", όπου περιλαμβάνεται και η original έκδοση του "After Midnight"

Το 2008 του απονέμεται το βραβείο Grammy (Best Contemporary Blues Album) για το άλμπουμ "The Road To Escondido" που κυκλοφόρησε το 2006 και περιλαμβάνει τραγούδια από την συνεργασία του με τον Eric Clapton αλλά και τις τελευταίες ηχογραφήσεις του Billy Preston

Μέχρι τον θάνατό του (Ιούλιος 2013) ο J.J. Cale κυκλοφόρησε 14 studio albums, 2 soundtrack albums, 3 Live albums, 5 albums σε συνεργασία με άλλους καλλιτέχνες (Collaborative albums), 12 επίσημες συλλογές (Compilation albums)
