Την 12/7/1962 εμφανίζονται για πρώτη φορά σε σκηνή στο Marquee Club του Λονδίνου, αλλάζοντας το αρχικό τους όνομα Blues Boys σε Rolling Stones από το ομότιτλο τραγούδι του Muddy Waters, με μέλη τους Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Dick Taylor & Ian Stewart.
Το πρώτο τους single με τίτλο "Come on" κυκλοφορεί τον Ιούνιο του 1963 και είναι διασκευή του τραγουδιού του Chuck Berry, ενώ το πρώτο τους άλμπουμ με τίτλο το όνομά τους κυκλοφορεί το 1964. Στο μεταξύ έχουν αποχωρήσει οι Dick Taylor και Ian Stewart και στη θέση τους είναι οι Bill Wyman και Charlie Watts.
Ένα χρόνο μετά και κατά τη διάρκεια της περιοδεία τους στις Ηνωμένες πολιτείες ηχογραφούν το τραγούδι "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" που τους χαρίζει παγκόσμια επιτυχία και αναγνώριση.
Κάπως έτσι ξεκινάει η πορεία του συγκροτήματος και με πρωταγωνιστή τον σπουδαίο Mick Jagger οι «Κυλιόμενες Πέτρες» πρωταγωνιστούν ως σήμερα στο παγκόσμιο στερέωμα προσθέτοντας καινούργιους θαυμαστές στους εκατομμύρια υπάρχοντες.
